Bang Tao is home to one of the longest and least crowded beaches on Phuket's west coast. The northern half fronts the Laguna Phuket complex - a collection of five-star resorts, golf course and lagoons connected by boat shuttles - while the southern end has a more relaxed mix of guesthouses, beach clubs and local restaurants.
The beach itself is excellent - wide, clean and far less busy than Patong despite the quality of the resorts behind it. The sea is calm in high season and the sand stretches for several kilometres.
