About Monkey Hill

Monkey Hill (Khao Toh Sae) is one of the highest hills in Phuket Town, standing about 280 meters above sea level. The hill is home to a colony of 400-500 macaque monkeys, fully accustomed to locals and tourists.

The hill offers sweeping panoramic views over Phuket Town and the eastern coastline. It's a popular spot for both tourists and locals, especially in the early morning and late afternoon when the temperatures are cooler.

Getting There

Take a taxi, Grab, or Bolt to Khao Toh Sae. The hill is behind Phuket Town. Scooter rental works too if you're comfortable on hills. The road is well-marked and easy to find.

Tip: Wear comfortable shoes for the steep climb. Bring water and sun protection. The trail is well-marked but can be slippery after rain.

The macaques are habituated to humans but can be unpredictable. Follow these rules:

Warning: Accidents are not unusual. Monkeys can be aggressive if they feel threatened or if you have food visible. Don't risk your holiday.
